Lung cancer screening: where do we stand?

Fabrizio Minervini, Marco Scarci

Abstract

A screening program for cancer in selected patients population could be a very effective measure to reduce morbidity and mortality rates. Several trials analyzed the efficacy of screening programs in lung cancer patients but nonetheless a worldwide adopted screening tool is lacking to date. Several uncertainties still exist but the scientific evidence about the efficacy of lung screening programs is already available.
